John Fred Deters

August 14, 1927 — December 23, 2011

Tremonton-John Fred Deters, 84 passed away from the effects of Alzheimer's, December 23, 2011 in Ogden, UT at the George E. Whalen Veterans Home. He was born August 14, 1927 in Itzehoe, Germany to Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich and Ida Regina Marie Henning Deters. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 and grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. He married Lillian Elfriede Kuehne in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 27, 1950. They had 10 children.
John served in the U.S. Navy in WW II in the Submarine Corp. He worked as an electrician at Thiokol and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his children and grandchildren. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and go on family vacations and reunions.
He is survived by his Wife; children: Gary Jeanette Deters, Kathy Rod Wilks, Rick Devonne Deters, Sue Bill Jones, Colleen Brian Hales, Jeff Mindy Deters and Ross Linda Deters; 38 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. He will be loved and missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and his children: Kevin, Scott and Kim.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 300 South Tremont St., Tremonton. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Wednesday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will follow at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of the George E. Whalen Ogden Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for the care given to John.
