John Rodney Blauer returned to his Heavenly Father on March 23, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born June 30, 1920 in River Heights to John Frederick and Violet Irene Blauer. He spent his growing up years in River Heights and graduated from South Cache High School. He enlisted in the military in 1945 with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served during World War II. He met Caroline Mary Richards while in Denver, Colorado. They married in Vancouver, Washington on November 12, 1946. They were later sealed on February 9, 1951 in the Logan Temple. They had four children, Forrest, Toni, Todd and Robyn. He was employed by Hill Air Force Base until his retirement. His wife Caroline, passed away on May 24, 1988. He married Marie Waldron on January 14, 1989 in River Heights. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on February 14, 1991. His love was scouting. He received his Eagle Scout when he was young and continued working in the scouting program until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading, journaling and watching the Utah Jazz. He always had Utah State Basketball and Football season tickets. He worked at the Logan Temple as an officiator from 1986 to 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Salt Lake City. His children: Forrest Carma Lee Blauer, Preston, Idaho; Toni John Petersen, Benson, Utah; Todd Shauna Blauer, Logan, Utah; and Robyn Mokey Douglas, Mendon, Utah. His siblings, Gwen Gilden, Logan, Utah; Afton Meyers, Orville, California; Wendell Doreen Blauer of Logan, Utah and Carma Stephens of Logan, Utah. Sisters in law, Patricia Blauer, River Heights, Utah and Marilyn Blauer, River Heights, Utah. Step children, Celia John Warburton, Iona, Idaho; Lana Morris, Provo, Utah; Trudy Waldron, Orlando, Florida, Vicky Charles Campbell, Alpine, Utah; Layne Amy Waldron, Seattle, Washington and Jed Pam Waldron, Millville, Utah. He is also survived by twenty one grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Caroline, two brothers, Wallace Blauer and Blaine Blauer and one grandchild, Allie Kay Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 12 noon at the River Heights 3rd Ward Chapel, 800 South 600 East. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery.
