Joan Ramsdell

Kaysville/Tremonton, Joan Theurer Ramsdell peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father September 7, 2010. Joan was born June 17, 1940 in Tremonton, Utah to Alma Grant and Sadie Stokes Theurer. She was blessed with three loving sisters and a kind brother. She is survived by two sisters Sharon Keith Nilson, Peggy Dale Showell and brother, ?Bud? Bonnie Theurer. Her parents and sister, Katie Theurer preceded her in death. Joan was blessed with a wonderful extended family of loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved. Joan had a wonderful childhood growing up on a farm in Tremonton. She has remained close to special childhood friends throughout her life. She graduated from Bear River High School and graduated with Honors from University of Utah in English. She taught English before raising a family. Some of her jobs have included working as a proofreader for both Deseret Book and the Davis County Clipper. More recently she retired from working for Fruit Heights City Offices. Her favorite responsibility was being a mother and a grandmother. She was previously married to Micheal A. Ramsdell on April 1, 1966. She has one son, Chris M. Ramsdell, a special daughter-in-law, Jenifer Zundel Ramsdell, and four grandchildren whom she absolutely adored, Ellen Afton, Phebe Kate, Hazel Joan, and Isaac Michael. Here are the words of a poem she enjoyed and asked to be shared:
?Don?t grieve for me, for now I?m free.
I?m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life?s been full, I savored much.
Good Friends, good times, a loved one?s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

The family expresses thanks to all the kind caregivers from Orchard Cove and Hospice who served her and made sure she was well cared for; and thank many kind neighbors, friends, family, church leaders and members who have given us support.
Joan is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she strived to keep her baptismal and temple covenants throughout her life. She personally sacrificed so her son could serve a mission. She served as ward librarian, primary teacher and other callings. She loved children and teaching ? and happily taught primary for many years.
She is empathetic, giving, loving and very loyal. She has a humble refined, quiet dignity about her. She enjoys reading loves the classics-including Shakespeare, gardening, plays and musicals, playing the piano, traveling, the beauties of creation the ocean and mountains, good movies, good music especially Mozart, and spending lots of time with friends and family. Her thoughtfulness could be found in a birthday card, gift, letter, phone call, hug, or personal visit. She tried to make others feel welcomed, important, and appreciated. You always liked being around her. She is a wonderful cook, it runs in her family. You never declined a dinner invitation, but gladly accepted. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is always quick to smile and laugh ? especially about her grandchildren!
She made Christmas magical. Her thoughtful Christmas stocking stuffers were the best part of Christmas. She found small, perfectly suited gifts throughout the year and saved them for your Christmas stocking. You could never dump out the contents of your Christmas stocking because each item was so thoughtfully picked out with you in mind ? lots of small, special treasures that you picked out and appreciated one by one. Christmas morning always has lasted a long time in her home!
Mom, we lack the ability to fully express our love and gratitude to you. You have always been quick and unhesitant about saying, ?I love you?. What a remarkable daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mother, grandmother, and friend you are. This life is truly better because of your Christ-like actions, love and example. We miss you more than words can say. We love you. We?re grateful for you and for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ; and we look forward to being with you again. We love you, love you, love you!!!
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Tremonton 3rd ward chapel, located at 9590 North 6800 West, Tremonton. At Joan?s request there will be no public viewing. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery
