River Heights, Utah – Joan, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend left this mortal existence on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
Joan was the first child of Merlin T. Whittle and Mildred Dunkley. She graduated from Preston High School then pursued further education at Brigham Young University and the LDS Business College at Salt Lake City. She worked at Daines Jewelry, for Judge Clark in the Juvenile Court of Salt Lake City, as well as New York Life Insurance Company of Seattle. Joan's life has been a life of service to her family and the people that she associated with. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as a teacher and a leader in the youth organizations of the Church, as well as president in the Stake and Ward Relief Societies. She has served three missions with her companion and served as a temple officiator in the Logan Temple. She is survived by her husband, Reed Merrill, and the following children; Julie Merrill, Nancy Jarvis Maughan, Susan Kim Probst, John Jenny Merrill, and Wendy Aaron Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the River Heights Stake Center, 8 S. 600 E., River Heights, Utah with Bishop Dave Rasmuson. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N., Logan, Utah, and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the River Heights Stake Center.
