Joan Cox Anderson, 53, of Logan passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2004 surrounded by her family at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was born January 19, 1951 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Buddy L. and Eva Beckman McCoy. Joan was the third of eight children and married Alan Anderson in January 1993. A gifted student, Joan attended Utah State University graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. She later earned a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling at which time she earned the right to be on the Dean?s List all while being a single parent and mother of two. Joan loved being a grandmother and enjoyed the arts?poetry, music, theater, and painting. She also loved the outdoors?camping, fishing, and hunting for arrowheads. She excelled in everything she tried to do. Her recent accomplishments were making heirloom quilts and skiing with friends. She was an inspiring guitarist and loved playing for her grandsons. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Her generosity and inspiration will live in our hearts forever. Joan is survived by her husband, Alan, of Logan; two daughters, Jessica Randy Johnson, of Huntsville, AL, and Emma Cox, of Logan; three grandchildren, Malik Shageer, Gavin Johnson, and Gabriel Babbitt.; two brothers, Pat and Mike McCoy; and five sisters, Jan Beier, Teresa Jahn, Imelda McCoy, Genevieve Williams, and DeLourdes Booker. She was preceded in death by her parents Buddy and Eva, and her grandparents Emma Ruth Big Mamma and William Herman Beckman, and Goldie and Clyde McCoy. Joan requested cremation and honoring that request, services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan.
