Orem/Tremonton, UT - Our loving mother and grandmother, Jennie Thorley Cox Oyler, died July 21, 2007 of natural causes. She was born June 1, 1916 in Hamilton Fort, Utah, the youngest child of Everard Alvin and Annie Thorley Cox. She married Earl H Oyler on September 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died January 24, 2001. She served in the military as a WAC in Boston during World War II. She grew up in Cedar City, then moved to Salt Lake to work, and spent most of her life in Tremonton, Utah where she raised her family. She and Earl moved to the Orem area following their mission and spent their last years there.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in every ward meeting house and many funerals in the Bear River Valley. She was a tireless worker who set the example for her children. She worked in the school lunch program. When she and Earl both retired they served a mission to the Oakland Temple Visitor?s Center.
She leaves behind four children: Kathryn Ann, Orem; Stephen Earl Lauralyn, Houston, TX; Scott LaMont Cathy, Taylorsville; Michele, Orem; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters: Ruth, Ann, Beth, Carl, Jim and Russell; and her husband.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at the Vermont 1st Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East, Orem, UT with Bishop Dale Pelo officiating. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26 and Friday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements by Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home of Tremonton, UT.
Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
