Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Jeanne Raymond Ravsten, 88 passed away on February 25th, 2012 of natural causes. Jeanne was born in Logan, Utah, on December, 20th, 1923, a daughter of Marguerite Meikle and Sylvanus Raymond. She was the first child of two in her family which explains the tender and loving relationship she devotedly shared with her sister Glenna. Jeanne married her eternal, everlasting companion, Glen Ravsten in the Logan LDS Temple on Nov, 5th, 1941. From that point on their beautiful union was one of unconditional love until Glen passed away in 2002. It is comforting for us to know that they are together again as we rejoice in the thoughts of her homecoming to Heaven, where she was no doubt eagerly welcomed into Glen's strong, loving wide opened arms. From this union came two children, four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in her life. Jeanne received her education at Smithfield and North Cache High. She worked as a telephone operator both during and after World War II. After that she spent many years as one of the greatest lunchroom cooks ever at Summit elementary where she developed a close kinship with the other "lunch ladies". She was famously known among family and friends for her hot fresh rolls, pies and annual Christmas fruitcakes! Although she was a much better giver than receiver, we all knew that yogurt covered raisins would win her over and that anything involving apples would be a complete flop! Jeanne didn't know how to visit or accept visitors without making sure they had something to remind them of the visit. Along with her baking, she freely handed out homemade sweaters, hot pads, dish rags, Afghans and many other hand crafted items. She was not one to ever sit idle without producing something for someone. Most amazing were the hand crocheted/knit Christmas ornaments that she blessed family members with every year right up until this very last Christmas. While we have always appreciated and eagerly anticipated this very special gift and talent; we will now have such a beautiful, lasting memorial of Jeanne each year as we decorate our trees. Her love shines through undeniably in each and every stitch. While "service" was Jeanne's middle name, Glen and Jeanne did many acts of kindness together. One example which made the local newspaper, was the great commitment they put forth attending the Weekly Wheelchair dances at Sunshine terrace where Glen's two sister's resided. Having worked hard all of her life both inside and out of the home, Jeanne never took anything or anyone for granted. It was her nature and desire to live strong and independent and she did so up until the very end. Her unparalleled love for her Heavenly Father kept her active in the church her entire life. Jeanne is survived by two loving children, Clayton Glen Ravsten Darlene and Jolene Ravsten Burnham Randall. She also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren: Kristin Cole Pat, Spencer Ravsten , Kelly, Emily Paige Steve and Hailey Tawni Burnham. 4 great grandchildren are also included in the list of her beloved survivors as well as her sister Glenna Smith Leon. Anyone knowing Jeanne, knows that all of her grandchildren are perfect in every way and can do no wrong! While it would be impossible to list all of the friends and neighbors whom she adored she had a very special friendship with Donna Lou Pitcher and Barbara Gutke. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Smithfield 3rd Ward Chapel 640 North 200 East with Bishop Dan Jessop conducting. Friends and Family may call on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Smithfield City Cemetery.
