Jean Reinhold Spencer

LOGAN, UT ? Jean R. Spencer Olga Johanna Reinhold died January 23, 2006 in the Logan Regional Hospital surrounded by members of her loving family. Jean was born to Martha and Rudolf Reinhold February 26, 1911 in Annaberg, Saxony, Germany. She and her sister, Gertrude, immigrated to the United States in 1926. She resided in New York until moving to Bear Lake, Idaho in 1934. Jean married Thomas Horsley Spencer on January 23, 1933 in Gloversville, New York. He preceded her in in 1973. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She fulfilled many callings in the church during her lifetime and was an avid temple attender. Jean was appointed Postmaster of Dingle, Idaho in 1945 and served until 1979 for a total of 34 years, the longest duration of any Dingle Postmaster. She has resided in Logan since her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with members of her family and returned to her homeland of Germany twice. Surviving are her six children: James Dorothy Spencer, South Ogden, UT; Arlene Edward Hanson, Fruit Heights, UT; Thomas Carol Spencer, Orem, UT; Elaine Jonathan Daines, Nibley, UT; Dennis Renee Spencer, Pocatello, ID; Fay James Roberts, Gladewater, TX; 32 grandchildren; 93 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Ralph Reinhold, Salt Lake City, UT. Preceding her in were her husband, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Logan 18th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North, in Logan. Friends and family may call Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
