Jay William Rodebush

Jay William Rodebush passed away peacefully in Logan, Utah on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of 73. He was born in Rupert, Idaho on July 27, 1940. His parents were Ollie F. Rodebush and Venice Rigby. He was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 26, 1958. Jay was sealed to his parents on October 27, 1960 in the Salt Lake Utah LDS Temple. In 1960, his family moved to Logan, Utah. Jay received his own Temple endowment on August 8, 1961 and later received a mission call from the Church to serve in Houston, Texas. Jay married Leone Florence Worley on July 16, 1965 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They raised 4 children and we're married for 49 years. Jay was always willing to help out his friends, neighbors and family when ever he could. He was an early riser would frequently be outside getting his yard work done before it got too hot. He tried to instill these values in his children to rise early and work hard. Jay loved to go fishing up Logan Canyon. He also loved to play dominoes, solitaire, and canasta. Jay's word was his bond. If he told you he would do something, you could guarantee he would do it and do it well. He would be sure to be early to any meeting or service assignment to eagerly help in any way he could. Setting up and putting away chairs at the church became his signature service and many knew and loved him for it. He loved to be with and hold his grandchildren. Even up to the last week of his life, he would ask, "Where are the kids?" or "Where is the baby?" They would make him laugh and smile which would in turn make anyone who saw them together, laugh, smile or cry. Jay is survived by his loving and devout wife Leone Rodebush of Logan, Utah, his siblings: Jim Joyce Rodebush of Moravia, Iowa, Ron Rodebush of Eugene, Oregon, Cleve Gretta Rodebush of Bountiful, Utah, Larry Debbie Rodebush of Smithfield, Utah, Sherry Danny Eubanks of West Valley, Utah, and Louise Rodebush of Fairview Park, Ohio, his children: Tim Lori Rodebush of Vista, California, Audrey Stuart Hoggan of Longmont, Colorado, Allison Jason Canen of Logan, Utah and Brian Diana Rodebush of Logan, Utah and his 12 grandchildren: Isaac, Jordan, Daniella, Casey, Brette, Chloe, Clint, Clark, Seletta, Ilamay, Jayris and Vincent. Funeral services will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N., Logan, UT 84321 on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:30 AM. Viewings will be held for family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2014 and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at that same location. Interment will be at the Newton Cemetery, Newton, Utah at 3:00 PM.
