Janice Marie Rock Lindsay passed away in Tremonton, UT 21 April 2007.
She was born 8 May 1925 in Seattle. Her parents Delbert Henry Rock and Kathryn LaVerne Williams, and sisters Kathy Bob Dunn and Shirley Bob Bennion and brother Del Jr. Nadine all passed before. Janice was a descendent of Annie Hicks who survived the Martin Handcart Company. Her dad owned a chain of Payless Drug Stores. He was President of Queen Anne LDS Branch in Seattle and often hosted President Grant. After living in Salt Lake the Rocks moved to the Bay Area. Janice was a live wire, fun-loving, engaging, loved making friends. She had wonderful taste and an eye for beauty. Her sister Kathy was her best friend all thru life and they wanted to live together if their husbands died first. Sixteen year old Janice married Clyde J Lindsay on 22 April 1942 just before he shipped to England- when he returned they married in the Salt Lake Temple. Always active in church, Janice served in many callings. She was an avid house cleaner and taught Tom, Steve, Rick and Kathy to clean house! She and Dad also encouraged good grades from their kids. As an Army family we moved every 2 or 3 years and moving was in Mom?s blood! Between stations, we always visited family. Before car trips Mom would be sure we prayed for safety. After Korea, we joined Dad in Japan Kathy was born in Sagami Hara. Mom loved having maid Yoshia Nakagima. After Japan, favorite places: Fremont, CA where Juanita Dicker was Mom?s pal; Ft. Douglas, UT with best friends Col Ed and Lois Thorsted; Heidelberg, Germany where Mom studied oil painting; the Presidio of San Francisco, where dad?s heart attack led to retirement; Staunton, Virginia where Sally Rule was Kathy?s friend; Virginia Beach, where Mom won 1972 Virginia Ceramic Artist of the Year; Palm Springs where Dad passed away 26 Nov 1987. Mom loved and married Wilford W Williams in 1989; Bill died in 1992. Mom had many friends at Sunrise Country Club. She loved dogs and had Flash, Lode Ark, Maggie, and Lody. She is survived by Thomas Sunda Lindsay of Wyoming; Steven Nelia Lindsay, Tremonton, UT; Rick Rachel Lindsay, Centerville, UT; Kathy Doug Anderton, Nashville, TN.
Services are at 10 am Thursday 26 April at LDS Park View Ward, corner of Monterrey Ave and Park View in Palm Desert, CA; Interment at Riverside National Cemetery.
