On May 21, 2006, I won my battle with Acute Leukemia. I left it behind me and went to join the loving family members who were waiting for me in a better existence. I came to this earth on July 24, 1939 in Tremonton, Utah, to loving parents, Eithel Marble and Leon Harding Kerr.
As a young girl I could scarcely contain my energy and loved to be outdoors playing games with friends, riding my bike and filling life with sunshine. I attended Bear River High School, where I was one of the original High Steppers. I also attended Utah State University, but liked to come home often to be with my high school sweetheart, Clyde Bessinger. Clyde and I were married September 25, 1959. We both liked to get away from the bustle of life to go camping and to watch flights of wild geese settle in the cornfields. Although he left this earth on April 5, 1978, we were sealed for all time and eternity on March 25, 2006.
I loved playing and coaching sports. I played softball and coached girl?s basketball and softball teams to state championships. I also found joy in serving as a primary secretary, primary teacher, young women?s camp and sports director and ward librarian. After I retired I volunteered as a Pink Lady and in the Senior Center.
I found a creative outlet making many beautiful quilts and kept friends and family members warm with knitted afghans, slippers and socks. My family says I have another talent, an incredible memory for family events; birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other special dates.
My joys included watching the sunrise behind my Honeyville home, hiking trails in the Teton Mountains, taking walks with Abe on starlit nights, camping trips with my children, playing Pinochle with the girls, getting dunked at the Bessinger family parties, catching fish in Alaska, trips with the Golden Girls my sisters, and keeping in touch with childhood and college friends.
Most of all I loved being with my family; laughing, eating good food, playing games and just enjoying being together. My living family members include: my children, Kris Bessinger and Peggy Rose; Brian and Elma Bessinger; Jeff Bessinger and Gosia Skowron; Abe Bessinger; Mathew Bessinger and my granddaughters, Tracee Lee, Mackenzie Rose, and Kennadee Elizabeth Bessinger. My mother, Eithel Marble Kerr and my sisters: Kayla Clayton Gabbert, Louise Jim Demoux and Micheale Curt Webb, and my family, Faye and Dale Larsen, Dick Karen Bessinger, Mary Sue Bessinger, Bob Cathy Bessinger and Garry Pat Bessinger.
I look forward to catching up with the following family members whom preceded me. My husband, Clyde Bessinger; my father, Leon Harding Kerr, my sister, Bonnie Rae Carter, my nieces, Marne and Shea, my father-in-law, Albert Bessinger, and my brother-in-law, Mick Bessinger.
I would like to thank the Huntsman Center for the compassionate care given to me in the last year.
