James R. Reeder passed away at the age of 64 surrounded by his wife and children on June 16, 2024 in Murray, Utah. He was born on July 24, 1959 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Charles and LaVera Mae (Swift) Reeder.
He grew up and graduated from Gracemont High School. Thereafter, he attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education in 1990.
James met and married his wife, Shirley Ann Tsosie and were sealed together in the Logan Temple. Together, they had five children: Corey Allen Reeder, Craig Edward Reeder, Logan Robert Reeder, Dwight Howard Reeder and Lahoma Joy Reeder.
He worked and retired as a physical educational teacher and sports coach for Ogden City School District. After retirement, James continued with his passion for teaching and taught for Cache County School District.
Outside of teaching, he enjoyed travelling with his family throughout the United States, dancing at pow-wows, going to concerts, watching sports (especially Oklahoma University and Celtics), running and watching his kids play sports.
James was well respected within the Native American community. He always carried himself in a humble, dignified and respectful manner. He will always be remembered for his dance style that he adhered to since he was young.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 25 at 10:00 AM at the LDS Hillcrest 1st Ward, 875 N 1500 E., Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the same location. Memories and condolences may be shared and expressed at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
