James (Jim) Walter Malone, 85, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan Utah on Thursday January 30, 2025.
Jim was born on August 23, 1939 in Beeville, Texas to James Carl and Mildred Inez Ingram Malone. He was the youngest of 4 children, Barbara, Carol and Shirley.
After high school he joined the Marines at the age of 18 where he learned and specialized in communications. Even at age 85 he remained fluent in Morse Code. He served two tours during the Vietnam War, he was a very proud Marine!
After returning home in 1967 he met and married Mary and had his only child, a daughter, Lesa. Later they divorced and in 1981 he and his daughter moved to Cache Valley, Utah. Over the course of his life he had jobs that he exceeded at but his specialty was Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and to be honest, he could do anything. Ultimately he ended up as a Material Handler at Kimberly Clark in Ogden, Utah. After 23 years he retired in 2004. Once retired he hit the road, traveling with his sisters all over the US.
He settled in California with his sister and in 2019 he moved back to Utah with his daughter where she cared for him for 6 years.
Jim had an amazing talent in woodwork, which is his cherished hobby. He spent many hours making anything from pens to bird houses to Windmill Clocks. Which he loved to make for his family and friends.
Jim was always up for telling jokes. His favorite thing to do was to make people laugh, and he always had a joke or some kind of wit that could get anyone laughing. Even in his darkest hours he found a way to make the nurses laugh. “Everlasting Wit”.
Jim will be deeply missed by his daughter, Lesa Malone and his grandchildren, Justin James Bowen (Carissa) and Jennifer Holman (Russell) and 10 Great Grandchildren. As well as many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins And his Sister Carol Henderson.
He was embraced by his Granddaughter Mary Lee Bowen, his parents Carl and Mildred, his Sister Barbara Ross, his Sister Shirley Shannon and brother in law Jerry Shannon. Cousin Gale Smallwood, Uncle Herby and Aunt Billie, Nephew Darrel Ross and best friend Darrel Hassell.
