Jim Kuykendall, 58, died April 14, 2006 of cancer in Tallahassee, Florida while visiting his grandchildren. He was born April 15, 1948 in Loma Linda, California, to Oma Alexander and Edgar Lee Kuykendall and was raised in the Phoenix and Wickenburg, Arizona areas. His parents took him on many trips driving but not stopping very much through many national and state parks thus beginning a lifetime love of travel. Jim put himself through college working nights and graduated with a Bachelor?s degree in business from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. After graduation, he went to work for Goodyear in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1983 he heard of a store in Logan for sale and bought Canyon County Tires at the corner of Main and Second North. He moved his parents here with him and took care of them until his father?s death in 1986 and his mother?s death in 2001. Jim truly enjoyed taking care of his customers fairly and honestly six days a week for the past 23 years. Through the years his pastimes have included golf, skiing, gardening, fishing, workouts at the gym, biking, walking his dog and bowling. He participated with his team in the National Bowling Championships for many years. He also bowled with his mother in a co-ed league. He won promotional trips from Goodyear and took his mother on many fun trips. On May 7, 2002 he married Shauna Thiele and he went suddenly from lifelong bachelorhood to being a husband, father and soon to be grandfather?roles he adapted to with great happiness. He and Shauna continued the tradition of vacationing with a fifth wheel trailer and he was looking forward to fishing with his grandsons. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ernest Hicken and a nephew, Bret Hicken. He is survived by his wife; sisters: JoAnn Steve Westley of Erie, Pennsylvania and Shirley Jerry Thomas Hicken of St. Louis, Missouri; two nieces and nephew; stepsons: M.
