James Robert Hopkins passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 5, 2006 after a wonderful 80 years of life.
He was born in San Francisco, California to James and Hollie Hopkins April 19, 1926 the third of three children. His favorite saying was ?I was once a five pound weakling.? He was a radar operator for the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII.

They had five children and raised their family in Pacifica and El Granada, California. He worked as a journeyman cable splicer for P.G.&E. until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed gardening and loved being outside in his yard. After his retirement he raised some beautiful bearded irises that were his pride and joy. He also liked to go hunting in the Trinity National Forest with his friends. Camping with the scouts or with his family was also a favorite pastime. He loved his family and liked to gather with them often. He had an amusing sense of humor and loved to tease his family. His children and friends especially remember his loud, shrill whistle.
A convert to the church, he faithfully served the Lord in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served as a scoutmaster for a number of years. Serving others was his motto.
