Jacqualeen Stowell Peterson, 73, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2004 at the Logan Regional Hospital following complications from an injury. She was born October 14, 1930 in the Smithfield family home, to parents that loved and cherished her. She was the only child of Jefferson Bright and Wanda Rebecca Pitcher Stowell. Jackie was blessed with 3 children, Linda Nielson Raschke of Smithfield, Carolyn Lee Peterson Nelson of Richmond and Jeffery LaWain Peterson of Smithfield.
Jackie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. She received numerous callings as a member of the LDS Church; Primary teacher, Counselor in the Primary Presidency, Extraction for Genealogy and learned to fluently write Latin and German. She was a Visiting Teacher Supervisor as well as a teacher in the Relief Society Auxiliary every month. She attended the temple often.
She belonged to a family home evening group, she was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, as well as a member of the Literary Club. Our Mother has always loved the Scriptures and lived by those teachings to the very best of her ability. She was a great mother, a friend, and a counselor as well as the greatest listener. Every one that knew her was touched by her wonderful spirit.
Our mother was born with a unique sense of humor that she shared with everyone and she had an uplifting attitude toward life. Every one that knew her loved and respected her as a beautiful, gracious daughter of our Heavenly Father.
Her light in our lives will be truly missed.
She is survived by a son Jeffery Lesa Peterson of Smithfield, their 2 children Travis and Amber Borba, and two daughters; Linda Raschke of Smithfield and her 3 children Jeanne Nagle , Becky Crane and Randy; Carolyn Tim Nelson of Richmond and their 4 children Sandie Nyman, Dion and Tyson. She was blessed with 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LaWain Cronquist Peterson and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smithfield 9th Ward Chapel, 155 West 400 North, with Bishop Clair Larkin conducting. Friends and family may call Sunday evening, June 20, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
