Hyde Park, UT – Jacob Brent Hawkes, 19, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at McKay Dee Hospital as a result of a traffic accident. Jacob was born September 28, 1989 in Preston, Idaho and was the fourth of six sons of Chad Morgan Hawkes and Shari Lyne Greenhalgh deceased. He attended schools in Logan and Smithfield. He graduated from Sky View High School in 2008. He was always full of enthusiasm and completely fearless. He was eager to try any sport and was always very coordinated and good at what he tried. Jake was a talented soccer player and played regularly for Sky View High School and many Cache Valley Teams, even traveling to Europe to play. After graduation he played one year at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jacob had a zest for life and loved to be around his family and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and particularly hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers. Jacob loved to laugh and saw humor in everyday things. Simple pleasures of just being around family and friends were the highlight of his days. He touched many lives with his easy going, good natured character and was a joy to be around. He loved animals and enjoyed being with his dog "Coop" and taking care of horses. He was devastated when his mother died of cancer in June of 2000 and never stopped missing her. He was a comfort to his family, but mostly to Tod who was only two at the time, taking him into his room and his bed for many months after his mother's death. We'll miss Jake, but know that his absence will be but for a short time. Those that loved him and knew him best will always have a friend in Jake. Jake is survived by his father, Chad; his brothers: Christopher, Brandyn, Shawn Terra, Tod, Ty and sister: Amber; his step-mothers: Renee Neilsen Hawkes, Lynda Thornton Hawkes and their children: Marc, Stephen, Tasha Schroeder Greg, Tyler, Alex, Ashley, Anna, Riley, Tanner and Emma; Grandparents: Lorene Greenhalgh, Joseph and Carma Hawkes; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shari and his grandfather, O. Brent Greenhalgh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Hyde Park 5th Ward Chapel, 65 East Center, Hyde Park, Utah.
