Jack Shumway, 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully, May 15, 2007, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born December 27, 1911, to John J. and Mary Ann Thompson Shumway, the third of five children. Jack married Mildred Lund December 23, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Tremonton where they raised their five children. Jack attended Bear River High School and Utah State University. He served an honorable mission to the British Isles, and later served a mission with his wife in Nauvoo, Illinois. They also served together as ordinance workers in the Logan Temple. Jack was Vice President and Manager of First Security Bank in Tremonton for 42 years. He also owned and operated Shumway Insurance Agency. Jack served on the Selective Service Board for twenty years, was Northern Utah March of Dimes Chairman and a member of the Kiwanis and Lions Clubs. For his years of service, Jack received the Andy Rytting Service Award. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at their annual week-long reunions at Bear Lake and Park City. He was an avid golfer. Jack will be remembered for his genuine love and concern for his family and all with whom he did business. He was truly a man of generosity and integrity and will be remembered for his delightful wit and sense of humor. Jack is survived by his wife, Mildred, his five children: Mary Anne Reed Hunter, Pat Steve Boyden, John Diane Shumway, Vera Gerry Monson and David Kathy Shumway. He is also survived by his sister, Sara White and his sister-in-law Ruth Lindsay Shumway, 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton, Utah. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and Saturday from 9:30 - 10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment in Garland Cemetery.
