Jack Marion Austin

November 8, 1921 — July 22, 2008

Garland, UT – Jack Marion Austin, 86, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008. He was born November 8, 1921 in Garland, UT to Howard Loveless and Leda Leona Hunsaker Austin. He proudly served as a Sea Bee in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Leona Potter August 4, 1945 in Hayward, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was reared and educated in Garland and moved to East Garland in 1946. He graduated from Bear River High School. He worked as a meat cutter before working at Thiokol as a scheduler. His hobbies included carpentry, woodworking and yard work.
He was a High Priest in the East Garland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several positions. Surviving are his wife and three sons: John L. Carol, Michael B. Shelley and Randall J. Robyn; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Monte Marge Austin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Keith and Kenneth and two sisters, Beverly Rose Boss and Marilyn Belnap.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center, 4375 West 15600 North, Fielding with Bishop Kraig Anderson officiating. Family and friends may call at the church Friday, July 25, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30-1:40 p.m. Interment will be held at the East Garland Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the Bear River Valley Care Center and Intermountain Hospice for their kind, compassionate service.
