Logan ? Iva Orme Hawkes, a resident of Sunshine Terrace, left us Sunday, January 27, 2002 to join her eternal companion, Morgan. She was born February 5, 1908 in Tooele, Utah, the youngest of six children born to Silas C. Orme and Emma Jane Smith. She attended high schools in Rexberg, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School. She married Morgan Hawkes June 14, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple by James E. Talmage, Morgan?s former Mission President. They made their home in Pocatello, where she served in many teaching and leadership positions in both ward and stake. As a young woman, she earned three Individual Leadership Achievement Awards and in 1957 was recognized as an Honorary Golden Gleaner. She and Morgan were called to serve as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple under President John H. Groberg from 1978-1983. She also served for a year in the Logan Temple. She was a charter member of the Desert Rose Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, having joined that camp in 1932 and remained an active member of the DUP to the present. She is the mother of 8 children: Lee Ann Lowell Dayton, Mapleton, Utah; Joseph M. Carma Hawkes, Logan; Jule Hawkes, Vancouver, BC; Mary Beth Robert Otto, Washington, D.C.; Gaylia Harvey Tanner, Centerville, Utah; Linda Blaine-deceased Lyon, Blackfoot, Idaho; Donna Marie Errol Phippen, Farmington, Utah; David Morgan Reva Hawkes, Orem, Utah. Her children, 36 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren are the jewels in her crown. She is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, her husband and one son-in-law. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 12:00 Noon in the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah. There will be a viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral Saturday. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Iva enjoyed reading good books all her life. She requested that instead of flowers, a contribution in her name be sent to the North Logan City Library, 475 East 2500 North, North Logan, Utah 84341.
