Irving Condie Frost

Irving Condie Frost died of natural causes at Logan Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 6, 2003. He was 94. He was a resident at Terrace Grove Adult Living Center in Logan. The family will greet friends Wednesday, July 9, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, in Smithfield, Utah from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home will be held at Walker Mortuary, 268 South Main in Coalville, Utah, on Thursday, July 10, at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Coalville City Cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the funeral service at Walker Mortuary from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Irving was born to Charles L. Frost and Fanny Emmeline Condie on November 25, 1908 in Grass Creek, Utah. His mother died from complications due to childbirth when he was four years old and his father later married Martha West. Irving attended schools in Coalville, Utah and graduated from Utah State University as a Chemist. He worked for the U.S. Government as an analytical chemist in Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, California; Laramie, Wyoming; Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado.
Irving was married on June 10, 1936 to Sarah Bernice Salmon. They had four children: Jacqueline Michael Lucas of Spanish Fork, Utah; Charles Linda Frost of Rexburg, Idaho; Robert Dona Frost of Smithfield, Utah; and Diana Ernest Haip of Denver, Colorado. Bernice died in 1959 and Irving later married Vera Hofer. They later divorced. Irving was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission to Germany and in various church positions including a Bishop?s counselor and High Priest Group leader. He was an active Scouter for many years. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish with his sons on backpacking trips into the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. After retirement, Irving developed a love for travel--joining the Ports of Call Travel Club. His favorite trips were to Mazatlan, Mexico, where he enjoyed the beaches and warm sun. Irving was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Izetta Nielson. He is survived by his four children, 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a sister, Emmeline Eldo Halliday of Salt Lake City, Utah. He will be missed by those who loved him and remembered as a man who enjoyed travel and the outdoors.
