Irene Black Wrigley, Born 11 October 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday 4 August 2010. She was the daughter of Chester Allen Black and Sarah Clarissa Hancock. She was the third of their eight children: Naomi 1914-2002, Millie, 1915-1971, Iris 1920-2005, LeRoy Chester 1922-1994, Florence 1926-2003, Clara Jean, 1928-1958, and William Jay, 1928, who lived just one month.
Irene married Norman Wrigley 17 July 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They made their home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and later in Bountiful, Utah, where Norman died 12 March 1984. Norman was born in England and immigrated with his parents as a child. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Second World War. Irene is survived by her son, William N. Wrigley, his wife Carol, grandchildren Amity Wrigley, Brian Corbridge wife Melissa, and Stacey Corbridge, and great grandchildren Alyssa Rose Corbridge and Koleur Brian Corbridge. Irene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Relief Society president, and also as a stake missionary. She also enjoyed working as a Name Extraction Specialist.
Irene enjoyed family history work, and was able to compile records of many families. Her great love is her extended family and she has enjoyed keeping in touch with her nineteen nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Monday 9 August in the LDS church at 640 North 200 East, Smithfield, Utah. Viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening, 8 August, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, Utah. Burial will take place in the Elysian Gardens Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT.
