Irel M Eppich, 92, peacefully went home to his Heavenly Father on the 18th April, 2012 surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was born the 12th November, 1919 in Trenton, Utah to Sheldon Paul and Elsie Marriott Eppich. He was reared and educated in Cornish and Trenton. He graduated from North Cache High School in 1938 and later graduated from Utah State University. He married his sweetheart, Evelyn Merrill, on the 29th July, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served as a missionary in Eastern Canada in 1940. He was called to many positions to include the Bishopric and High Council. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel and our Savior Jesus Christ. He loved sports and was an extremely strong athlete all of his life. He loved hunting, camping, and growing a large garden to share with his neighbors. He was a teacher, coach, and educator with the Cache School District for many years and retired in 1982. He was a wonderful friend and was loved by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Eppich. He had four daughters and one son: Georgann Lothair Thompson, Pamela Gary Kidd, LaDawn Jean Woods, Gaylene Lynn Smith, and Scott Elaine Eppich. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Eflie Marilyn Eppich. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church building located at 345 East 300 South, Smithfield, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
