Ilah Eldora Anderson

Ilah Eldora Anderson Anderson left this mortal life Sunday, December 28, 2008 at age 92 to be with her beloved companion and other family members. She was born August 18, 1916 in Bear River City, Utah to Clarence and Martha J. Anderson. She attended grade school in Bear River City and graduated from Bear River High School in 1934. She married Renold Anderson January 22, 1936 in Ogden, Utah. Their vows were solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple October 3, 1951. He died December 11, 1962. Her children are : Ollie Lou Robert Dahle, Clarkston, Utah; Iris LaVar Douglas, Tremonton, Utah; Dennis Carol Anderson, Tremonton, Utah.
Ilah worked in the school lunch program and at the ASCS office in Tremonton. She attended Stevens Henager Business School and then worked for Bear River Mental Health and Associated Psychologists in Brigham City, Utah. She also substituted at the Bear River Post Office. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served as president and secretary. In addition, she served in many church capacities including Primary, Sunday School, Stake Sunday School, and was a Relief Society visiting teacher for many years.
Ilah was a gifted seamstress; sewing coats, costumes, formals, skirts, dresses, pants, and shirts for her children and grandchildren. She also made tied quilts, and TV pillows for them. She began knitting at age 47; starting with slippers and baby booties. But her great love was knitting afghans. Over the years, she has garnered many blue, sweepstakes, reserve champion, and recognition ribbons at the Box Elder County and Utah State Fairs. Family, friends, and others have been the recipients of her beautiful handiwork. Ilah was also an avid reader and had a large collection of books of all kinds. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and even rafted down the Snake River! She has traveled by foot, horse, wagon, car, truck, bus, boat, train, and airplane. She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz. Ilah had a green thumb and gardened most of her life. Sharing her harvest of vegetables, raspberries and flowers gave her much joy and satisfaction. Ilah has always been a hard worker, kept a tidy home, and was an excellent cook. Her home was always open to family and friends for visits. She has been an example of love, strength and endurance to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, nine grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, with another due in March, one brother, Dwight Merle Anderson, sisters-in-law, Thora Anderson and Fontella Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Dianna Dahle and seven brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 2, 2009 at the Bear River LDS Chapel; 5870 North 4700 West, Bear River City. There will be a viewing at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton Thursday, January 1, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to services at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bear River City Cemetery.
