Ila Spackman Alvey

Ila Spackman Alvey ? our beloved mother, sister, grandmother ? peacefully passed away August 23, 2007 at the Logan Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Richmond, Utah to Walter Vernice and Valeria Maude Spackman. She married Aaron Frederick Alvey on Nov. 27, 1942 in Preston, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. Ila lived most of her life in Richmond and Logan, attending Logan district schools and graduating from North Cache High School in Richmond. Later, she worked at Cache Valley Dairy until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served in the Primary and Cub Scout organizations for many years. Community involvement included 4-H, social clubs and bowling leagues.
She is survived by her four children: Cless Shari Alvey, Richmond; Cheryl Doug Nielsen, Smithfield; Jan Eskelson, Hyrum; Dennis Jill Alvey, Brigham City; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Lynn and Eugene Spackman. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Ilene Seamons and brother Gail Spackman.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all Ila?s close friends and neighbors, especially Gail and Marva Dawn Alvey, for their watchful care and service over the past several years.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Richmond 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Dan Richins officiating. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Richmond Chapel. Interment will take place in the Richmond City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
