Idon Chadwick Anderson, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Logan, Utah on Monday, June 2, 2003. Idon was born to George Alonzo and Erma Bean Chadwick on September 23, 1918, in La Grande, Oregon, where she lived for most of her life. She also lived with her family in Weiser, Idaho for a short time. After attending Brigham Young University, she taught school for one year in Elsinore, Utah. She was married on September 19, 1941 to Ernest Clifford Anderson in the Salt Lake City Temple, and soon after established a home in La Grande. Idon was an exemplary mother, homemaker, and teacher. She spent much of her life in the service of others and fulfilled numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a strong supporter of her husband during his many years of church leadership. Her example of giving service influenced many, including the 23 Eagle Scouts and 24 missionaries in her progeny and numerous friends and relatives. Idon is survived by her children, Larry E. Sally Anderson of Richland, Washington; Verl A. Kathy Anderson of St. George, Utah; Arlene Arnold Hill of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Vaughn R. Kay Anderson of Orem, Utah currently serving as President of the Paraguay Asunción Mission; Erma Mike Jones of Logan, Utah; and Dona Jean Steve Reeder of Logan, Utah; a brother, Duane G. Chadwick of Logan, Utah; 35 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Cleo Sessions; brother, David Chadwick; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 at the LDS Stake Center, 1802 Gekeler Lane, in La Grande, Oregon. Dedication of the grave and interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
