Ida May Astle Thorpe

Garland, UT - Ida May Astle Thorpe, 85, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2005. She was born September 18, 1919 to James William and Minnie May Snyder Astle in Garland, UT. She married Lyman Theurer Thorpe September 15, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died 26 February 1994She was reared and educated in Garland, graduating from Bear River High School.
Ida and her husband owned and operated their family farm in Garland. She enjoyed crafts, doing handiwork, reading, and poetry. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are her children: Ada Jean Lowell Vance, Tremonton, UT; Tyra McAldon Thompson, Phoenix, AZ; Lyman "L.H." Sheila Thorpe, Tooele, UT; sisters, Ellen Larsen, Kaysville, UT and Edith Limb, Layton, UT; brother, Arthur A. Wilma Astle, North Ogden, UT; 13 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 14 great, great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and three brothers: Theodore, Arlie and Clarence.
Services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland Tabernacle, 140 West Factory St., Garland. Friends and family may call Friday, September 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Garland Tabernacle. Interment at Garland Cemetery.
