Howard Lynn Noble

Howard Lynn Noble passed away at home on February 4, 2013. Howard was born April 21, 1937 in Logan, Utah, the son of Lorin Mather Noble and Norma Crafts Noble. He was the youngest of three children. His brother is Kenneth Noble Sheri of Hyrum and his sister is Patricia Dave Kimball of Smithfield.
Howard attended Summit Elementary, Smithfield Jr. High and North Cache High School where he earned the nickname "Crunch". He served in the United States Army 9th Infantry Division; Company F of the 47th Infantry Regiment and in 1957 received his basic training at Fort Carson Colorado He was then was stationed in Indiana where he served in a missile defense unit. On returning home from his service he worked for Huppi, Hancey and Yeates Plumbing in Logan, Utah. During his life he also worked for Logan Motors, Palmers Plumbing, Johnson Controls in Clearfield, Utah, and Hilco Plumbing. As a highly skilled welder/pipefitter he traveled and in a variety of locations including: Arco, Idaho for Westinghouse Idaho Nuclear Co., he helped build a power plant for Hawaiian Electric Company, and assisted in the construction of a power plant in Ivory Coast, Africa. Howard was a proud member of The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry Union of the United States and Canada for over 45 years. Howard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was married to Kathleen Draper on November 6, 1964. They have four children, Tammy Kim Coleman of Bountiful, Michele Lorenzo Schumann of Brigham City, Brad MaryJo Noble of Wellsville and Heather Ben Godfrey of Farmington. Fourteen Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild on the way. Howard loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and camping with his family and friends. He farmed all of his life helping to raise dairy cows on his family farm, growing sugar beets, alfalfa and grain. He was a talented mechanic and could repair all of his own farm machinery and cars. He taught his family the value of hard work. At the end of their lives he cared for and attended both his father and mother until their deaths. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Jonah Bradley Noble. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 12:00 Noon, at the Smithfield 3rd Ward, 640 North 200 East Smithfield, Utah. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield on Sunday February 10, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
