Tremonton, Utah ? Howard Spencer Barton, Jr., 69, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle returned to his Heavenly Father February 10, 2007 after a valiant battle with Parkinson?s disease. He was born February 23, 1937 to Howard Spencer Barton, Sr. and Gladys Wright Barton Walker. He married Jewel West and had two sons: Scott and Mark. They later divorced. He then married Joye Baird June 25, 1971.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served an LDS Mission to Australia, served as High Priest, Sunday School teacher, and many other positions in the church. He was a Scout Master for over 30 years and earned his Silver Beaver. He graduated from Weber State College with an Associates in Auto Mechanics.
He enlisted in the Army for three years where he was a PVT E-1 serving one and a half years in France and the next one and a half years stateside. He enjoyed working at Brigham Implement as a machinist for 18 years where he retired. He also worked at Thiokol and Morton in Ogden as a machinist in his younger years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding horses, hunting, gardening, scouting activities, working on automobiles and he worked as part of a pit crew at the raceway. He loved anything that had to do with building.
He is survived by his wife, Joye Barton; daughter, Jennifer Gerald Larsen; sons: David Emily Barton and Michael Barton; grandchildren: Tericka, Joshua, Jordin, Savannah, LoraLee and Gabrielle; sister, Ruth Ron Rees; brother-in-law, Gary Mary Baird and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all the care givers, doctors, Pioneer Care Center, Hospice, friends and family who helped him.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Deweyville LDS Church, 10750 North Highway 38, Deweyville with Bishop Michael Yates officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 9:30-10:40 at the church. Interment at Deweyville Cemetery.
