Helen Louise Monson

January 31, 1956 — September 21, 2014

Helen Louise Monson Louise passed away at her home after a valiant fight with Ovarian Cancer on September 22, 2014. She was born January 31, 1956 in the Logan, UT Hospital. She was the third child of Helen Alberta Peterson Monson and Neils John Monson. She was born on her oldest brother's fifth birthday. Upon going home from the hospital, her mother was not allowed to carry her so her Dad would transport her for her feedings. She quickly became Daddy's girl. At the age of nine Louise lost her dad due to a blood clot. So her mother was faced with raising three children on her own. Louise attended Elementary school at Millville. Then attended Junior High at South Cache in Hyrum Utah. Louise graduated from Sky View High in Smithfield in 1974. She also graduated from the Smithfield Seminary with a four-year certificate. Summer of 1974 Louise also served with other young women as a Dairy Princess representing Millville. Fall of 1974 she started school at Utah State University. Institute was also important to her. She graduated from Institute with a special certificate honoring her for the extra courses she took beyond requirement. While a student she decided to start working. She started working part-time for Printing Services as a Bindery worker. This later became a full-time position within the organization. Many people affectionately referred to her as Copy Center Louise. Summer of 1979 she decided to audition for "The West, America's Odyssey". She went on to participate in the production for 18 years. She gained many lifelong friends there. Louise developed an extensive love of travel for historical or genealogical research as well as for fun. These trips were often taken with family and friends. Louise was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many positions within the wards and stakes she lived in. She never changed her home address, living in the family home her entire life. But she did change wards. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, and brother John Carl Monson. She is survived by her brother, Albert Monson, sister-in-law, Janette Monson John, neice, Jolayne Wright Clifton, nephew, Jason Monson Tiffany and two "great" nieces, Tristann and MacKenzie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the Millville 3rd Ward Chapel, 110 South Main Street. There will be a viewing on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North and at the Church on Saturday prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Millville Cemetery.
