Helen Leatham McDonald was born on April 26, 1943, in Logan, Utah, to Eldon and Othea Leatham. She was the third of six children and grew up in Hyrum. She spent most of her life in Cache Valley, excited to move “home” in 2020 after living with her sisters in West Valley for many years. She will be laid to rest beside her parents and other family in the Hyrum Cemetery on Friday, August 26th, at 1:00pm.
Helen was sweet and salty, stubborn and fiercely loyal. She loved decorating for the holidays and having visitors. She was a walker, an avid reader of Stephen King and Dean Koontz, and an Elvis Presley fangirl. Some of her favorite things were Diet Coke, owls, and thrift stores. Notable dogs who benefited from Helen’s charitable heart (and plate) were Trixie, Charlie, and Burkley. She gave everything for her sons and grandchildren and loved spending time with them most of all. We’ll never know how many lives she touched with her blue-eyed winks and contagious smiles.
After a short stay in the ICU at Logan Regional Hospital, Helen passed away with pneumonia on August 20, 2022. The family would like to especially thank nurses Stacie, Brooke, and Kyle for their incredible care. Helen leaves behind her children, Paul and Troy (Nicole) McDonald, and her grandchildren, Brittney (Nathan) Allen, Jordan (Robert) King, Allison Blauer, Taia (Josh) Rogers, Auston McDonald, Alexander McDonald, Riley McDonald, Aidan McDonald, and Ashton McDonald. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Othea Leatham; her stepmother, Larue Leatham; her brother, William Leatham; and her sisters, Janeice (John) Perry and Diane Smith.
Helen was both lovely and deeply loved; we were so lucky to have her.
