Helen Rose Mares

Helen Rose Mares, 66, passed away peacefully at her home in Hyrum on Saturday, July 10, 2004. She was born January 22, 1938 in Center, Colorado to Elias Maez and Bersabel Marquez. She lived and was educated in Center, Colorado, eventually moving to Salt Lake City. In 1998 she moved to Logan and then in 2000 to Hyrum. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and especially her family. She dearly loved volunteering to work with the children at the elementary school. Her family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to IHC Hospice and Home Health Care; Dr. Nordell Brown and his staff; Father Clarence Sandoval, Father Frank and Margaret Stephan at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church; and a special thanks to friends and family who have extended their help and care. She is survived by her husband, Armando Mares; children: Juanita James Ilk of Hyrum; Christine Martin Morales of Hyrum; and four grandchildren: Esperanza, Viviana, Avery & Mathew. She is also survived by a brother, Adolph Tina Maez and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Bersabel Maez, brothers: Paul and Andy Maez; sisters: Mary Gallegos, Elivera Madrid and Ella Martinez A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 795 North 800 East, Logan. A viewing will be Wednesday evening, July 14, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church with Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. and Rosary at 8:15 p.m. Services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
