Helen Joanne Christiansen

Helen Joanne Christiansen died December 19, 2006 at Avalon Valley Care Center in Salt Lake City of causes incident to age. Joanne was born February 9, 1928 in Salt Lake City, but considered Butte, Montana her home. She married William Vickers Christiansen in 1949, they were later divorced. They had four children together. Joanne lived for a time in Okinawa, Japan, and Seoul, Korea, where she opened her home to the servicemen. She loved to travel and experience other cultures. Joanne proudly completed her Bachelors and Masters degrees as an older adult, and she taught special education in the Tooele and Murray School Districts. She loved her students and those she worked with. Prior to coming to Avalon Valley, Joanne lived at Friendship Manor, where she made many good friends. Joanne was a woman of great faith, which she leaned on during the rough times. She willingly served in all the auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by her four children: Cynthia Pace Loyal; John Christiansen Sandy; Dale Christiansen Ann; Paul Christiansen Jane; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and four brothers: Bill, George Bud, David and Edward. Her family would like to thank the staff at Avalon Valley Care Center for the care they?ve given Joanne these past many months. Private services will be held for the family. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
