Hazel Smith

Hazel Rosetta Naylor Smith, 90, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in Logan, Utah. She was born November 29, 1919 in Logan, Utah to Laura Elizabeth Webb and Ishmael Naylor. Hazel married Asell Chugg Smith on June 28, 1942. They were later divorced. Hazel was a wonderful mother to her children; Janet Bailey deceased, Rhonda Terry Cronquist, Smithfield, Clyde Patty Smith, Lewiston, and Clair Jenny Smith, Tempe, Arizona. She worked hard all of her life to take care of her children and although she had little, she gave much. Her children were the center of her life. Her example of service to members of her family was one of love and compassion. She worked at Sears, Hotel Logan, and Logan Hospital before retiring to take care of her mother, brothers and aunt in her home. Hazel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She resided in Logan for many years where she kept a beautiful yard including several beautiful rose gardens. Hazel attended schools in Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Hazel loved babies, flowers, animals, watermelon, the Utah Jazz and shopping. Her children and grandchildren were the recipients of many Christmas and birthday gifts. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Melvin L. Naylor, Charles William Naylor and Ishmael Donald Naylor, a sister Savona Bodrero, her beloved daughter, Janet and 2 infant grandsons. She is survived by her 3 children, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Lewiston 1st, 2nd Ward Chapel, 10 South 1600 West, with Bishop Kent Buttars conducting. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, and from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
