Harry L. Canfield

Tremonton, UT ? Harry L. Canfield, 87, declared his independence and died July 4, 2007 in Sarasota, FL.
He was born December 9, 1919 in Blue Creek, UT to Owen Patrick and Clara Elizabeth Deakin Canfield.
Harry married LaVerd Wright on January 22, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple May 23, 1945. LaVerd died January 28, 1981. Their family consisted of a daughter, Melanie and four nephews who were raised as their sons: Jerry, Leonard, Wayne and Michael.
Harry and LaVerd always had a welcoming home and enjoyed the company of friends and family.
Harry was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in Bishoprics and on the High Council. He was active in the community with numerous farming organizations and the Sheriff?s Mounted Posse. He was a farmer, cattle rancher, grain buyer and trucker, custom hay and straw baler and partner in Canfield Nutrition Center. He loved and raised good registered paint horses. His favorite was Tonto.
After LaVerd died, Harry married Gaile Culbertson February 20, 1982. Their marriage was solemnized February 19, 1983 in the Logan LDS Temple. They retired to Sarasota, FL in 2000.
He played golf and played a mean game of pool.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Gaile; Daughter, Melanie Nyman Holmgren; sons: John Leonard Kit Canfield, Michael Dee Ann Canfield; Jerry?s wife, Elaine; brother, John Ora Canfield; stepchildren, Karen Roberts and William Culbertson, Jr.; 26 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; sons: Jerry and Wayne Canfield; brother, Norman Canfield; sisters: Olive Moffit and Katherine Kupfer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bear River LDS Ward Chapel, 5870 North 4700 West, Bear River City, UT. Refreshments and visiting will follow in the cultural hall.
