LEWISTON ? Harry Maddiford Broome, age 78, passed away October 12, 2003, at his home in Lewiston, Utah. He was born March 25, 1925 to Albert William Broome and Ruby Gladys Nealley Broome, in Salt Lake City. He married LaVon Clark on April 10, 1950 in Salt Lake City.
He was a graduate of Granite High School and attended the University of Utah. During World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees. He worked many years in family owned businesses, National Ice Cream Company and Queen Craft Candy Company, where his chocolates became well known throughout northern Utah. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service.
Harry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Cub Master and Scoutmaster of Highland View Second Ward in Salt Lake City.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Brent Sheila Broome, Highland, Utah and Kent Kathy Broome, Lyons, Colorado; daughter, Holly Gill Hyer, Lewiston, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and two grandchildren.
At his request, graveside services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 12 noon in the Lewiston City Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Mark Bergeson of Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund, 1665 So. Bennett Road, Salt Lake City, Utah 84104. The family thanks Dr. Jon Wall, R.
