Harold Richard Grimes

Harold Richard Grimes, 87, passed away peacefully December 25, 2007 at his home in Providence, UT. He was born March 5, 1920 in Lebanon, PA to Charles Walmer Grimes and Hazel Mae Brown Grimes. He was raised in Lebanon, PA and graduated from Lebanon High School. He married the love of his life, Marguerite Peg Elinor Wintyen on April 4, 1942 and was later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple in 1973. In January of 1943, he entered the Army to serve his country during World War II. He fought on the Pacific Front in Okinawa, and received several medals. After the war, he returned home to his wife and together they raised a family of three daughters. Peg passed away June 10, 2004. Harold worked for IBM for over twenty-five years as an electrical engineer. Over the years, he volunteered in several community activities. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in Bishoprics in Texas and New York and on the High Council in Texas. Throughout the years he has enjoyed: carpentry, bowling, golfing, sports, and traveling. He enjoyed flying and obtained his private pilots license. Family always came first and some of his parting words were ?bless each other?. He is loved greatly and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children: Peggy Lynn Neal Neumann, Springfield, VA; Sharon Lee Barry Sorensen, Providence, UT; Vicky Ann Melvin Galloway, Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren: Robby Sorensen, Amy Smith, Talisha McGovern, Travis Galloway, Adam Sorensen and Nicole Syed; and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Richard Grimes, Ethel Youse, Robert Grimes, Jeannette Heim, and Daniel Grimes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Peg, and a sister, Joyce Grimes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Providence 5th Ward Chapel, 355 Canyon Road, Providence, UT. Friends and family may call at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
