OGDEN – Harmon Jay Campbell died peacefully April 13, 2009 at the Aspen Care Center. He was born October 19, 1920 in Preston, Idaho to Julius "H" Campbell and Hulda Marie Lundstedt. He married Lola Emma Atkinson June 3, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple. They reared six children. He was a resident of Corinne and Brigham City, Utah most of his married life. In later years, he lived in Ogden, Layton and Elwood. He was raised in Corinne and graduated from Box Elder High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He farmed in Corinne the first ten years of his marriage and then began a career in construction. He helped many learn the construction trade while building homes in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada and California No matter how much adversity he had, he always saw the bright side of every situation. He rarely had a bad day. He was always smiling or laughing. He is preceded in death by his wife, father and mother, sister, Rita Mae, and brothers, Walter and Reed. He is survived by two brothers, Douglas Campbell of Salt Lake City and Melvin Marilyn Campbell of Brigham City. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved missionary work. In 1941, Harmon was called to the California Mission which included California, Arizona and Nevada. While living in Corinne, he was called as a Seventy, a calling he had for 30 years. He was one of the seven presidents of the 5th Quorum. He and Lola served in the California Ventura Mission in 1986-87. He is survived by children, Jeneil Jay Hardy of Elwood; Rodney Julia of Hurricane currently serving in the Oklahoma Tulsa LDS Mission; Geraldine Dennis Child of Logan; Rita Giles Tanner Bill of Fillmore; Jeffrey Kathy of Orem; Joel Jolene of Lindon; 30 grandchildren and 67 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Elwood 2nd Ward Chapel, 4865 West 9600 North just off I-15 exit 376. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:15 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Elwood Town Cemetery.
