H. Glen Royle

July 17, 1917 — December 8, 2008

H. Glen Royle passed away peacefully December 8, 2008 at his home in River Heights, Utah. Glen was born July 17, 1917 in Lehi, Utah to James Freeman and Lovinia Mcallister Royle. He was a paragon of honesty, reliability and cordiality to all that knew him. He was tireless in his service to both his church and community. It could be said of him like that of Apostle Paul, 'he fought a good fight and endured to the end'. Glen spent his early years working on his father's farm in Lehi. The hard farm work taught him the value of work. This experience undoubtedly contributed to forming his belief that real work was that work done by ones hands. He was called to serve a mission in California. Shortly after completing his mission, he was inducted into the Army. On December 9, 1941 he married his long time sweetheart, June Schow in the Salt Lake Temple. The next several years, Glen worked on his father's farm in Lehi. Realizing that small time farming had a limited future, he decided to enroll at the College of Dentistry at the University of Oregon. After receiving his diploma in general dentistry, he established a private practice in American Fork, Utah. In 1954 he moved his family to Southern California and re-established his dental practice in the city of Downey. During this time our father was called to serve as a scout master, counselor in several bishoprics, bishop, and finally as a stake high council member. Due to health problems he was forced to sell his prosperous dental practice and he and June moved to Elk Ridge, Utah. Glen and June made their last move to River Heights in 1988. Our beloved mother preceded our father in death in January of this year. Glen is survived by his five children: Kenneth and Mary Lou Royle, James and Janell Royle, Howard Royle, Fred and Camille Clausen, and David and Stephanie Richards as well as sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Cobblestone Chapel, 420 West 100 North, Providence, Utah at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
