Gwen Alta Brown Cole

December 21, 1920 — July 13, 2005

Gwen Alta Brown Cole, 84, has gone to join her sweetheart, W. Wayne Cole of 59 years. She died peacefully surrounded by her family July 13, 2005. She was born December 21, 1920, the first child and daughter of Maralba Brown and Alta Hollingsworth in Preston, Idaho. She lived in Ruth, Nevada; Grand Junction, Colorado; Whitney, Idaho; and Smithfield, Utah. Gwen had six daughters: Glenda Bruce Coburn of Nampa, Idaho; Joyce Richard Shipley of Farmington; Diane Eugene Purser of Rigby, Idaho; Bonnie Keith Budge, of Hyde Park; Marilyn Jerry Munk, of Amalga; and Sharlene Scott Barner, of Payette, Idaho. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Merrill of Rigby, Idaho; 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Glenda, and brother, John Marvin Brown. She served in various LDS callings, including a Temple officiator. She has enjoyed serving in the Lady Lions Club, participating with the Senior Citizens and traveling with the Good Sams. She delighted in her grand and great grandchildren. Some of her favorites were outings with friends, crocheting, flower gardening, watching the Jazz and listening the Bar-J Wranglers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2005 at the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 East 120 South. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and Saturday at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Whitney, Idaho Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
