Grant Brough, 78, passed away Monday, October 4, 2004, at his home in Smithfield, Utah. He was born September 6, 1926 in Garfield, Utah, the son of Clarence and Beatrice Larson Brough. His family moved to Cache Valley when Grant was 3 years old. He grew up in Cornish, Utah. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country in World War II. He graduated from Utah State University and from West point of the West in 1950. He married Anna Fonnesbeck of Smithfield on May 3, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. He again served his country as an officer in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his discharge, he came back to Cache Valley to live. He returned to school to obtain a teaching certificate and earn his master?s degree. Grant worked for J C Penney Company in the men?s department full time and then part time for many years. He was a teacher for 26 years. For most of those years, he taught accounting and marketing at Sky View High School. Grant was actively involved, and a leader, in the Distributive Education Clubs of America, serving on the state board of directors as chairman. He loved to be in the classroom and loved his students. In his younger years, he was a member of the Smithfield Jaycees. He was also an active member of the Smithfield Lions Club. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various church callings throughout his life. Grant was always known as a hard working and dependable person by all that knew him. He had a tremendous love for his family and his greatest joy was to spend time with them. He is survived by his wife, Anna, of Smithfield; his children: Debra and Larry Rodebush of Smithfield; Ken and Corrie Brough of Fairview, Wyoming; and Richard and Sandy Brough of Osmond, Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Denton Betty Brough of Roy, Utah and two sisters: Marian Wright of Smithfield, and Dixie Bob Feenan of Windsor, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Joshua Rodebush; and a granddaughter, Natalie Brough. There will be a viewing on Friday, October 8, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, at the Smithfield 6th ward chapel, 600 East 120 South. A viewing will be held that day at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery with full military honors.
