Grant L. Allgaier of Logan, Utah passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007. He was born April 27, 1918 to Jacob and Anna Allgaier. He was raised in Hyrum and graduated from South Cache High School. He served his country in World War II and after the war, returned to Cache Valley and in 1947, married Norma Weeding. In 1950, he began a paint contracting business that operated continuously until 1975. At that time, he began working at Utah State University as foreman of the paint crew, a position held until his retirement in 1987. Music was an enjoyable and important part of Grant?s life. He played drums from the time he was a young boy until his death. The music he loved most was the music of the big bands of the 30?s and 40?s, and this was the type of music the bands he played with performed. He loved to fish, he loved to golf, he loved to paint , he loved to work with wood, he loved his family, and he loved life and lived his generously and to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Allgaier; son, Gary Allgaier of Logan; daughter, Lori Garnand Gary of Twin Falls, Idaho; granddaughter, Kristen Garnand of New York and granddaughter, Stacy Frey Brian of Portland, Oregon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan.
