Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, sister and friend, Grace Lydean Deane Hawker Rigby passed away February 6, 2002 in the LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 11, 1927, in Soda Springs, Idaho, the daughter of Robert and Lydia Hawker. She married Dr. George Ralph Rigby, DDS December 20, 1947. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1948. Deane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, after retirement she served a mission in Perth Australia. A devoted Mother, grandmother and friend, Deane constantly put the needs of others before her own. She was an artist and a prolific writer. At the time of her death she was in the process of completing a book of family history for publication. Deane made great contributions in the communities in which she lived. In her professional career she served as the Executive Secretary of the Utah Academy of General Practice; Executive Secretary to the Deans of Registration and Graduate School - University of Utah; Executive Secretary to Chief of Surgery ? LDS Hospital; Executive Secretary National Association of Social Workers - Utah Chapter; Director of Volunteers ? McKay Dee Hospital; Executive Secretary Division of Artificial Organs ? University of Utah; Coordinator in the Office of Career Development ? Ricks College; Executive Secretary N.S.F. Resia Project - Weber State University; City Recorder East Layton City; and Davis County Clerk. She is survived by her children: Sherida Scott Marshall, Kent TeresaRigby, Rohn Lisa Rigby, Melanie David McKenzie, Gorgi Rigby and 20 adored grandchildren. Also, a brother George Hawker, and sisters Ann Barker, Jean Shelton and Pat Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, George and her infant son, Gregory. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at the Newton, Utah LDS Ward Chapel, 12 South 100 West.
