Gordon George Worley

August 27, 1918 — May 19, 2009

Tremonton, UT – Gordon George Worley, 90, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009. He was the son of George, Jr. and Marie Kohler Worley. He was the youngest of four children and was raised on a family farm in Arimo, ID. He learned the value of hard work at an early age and he never forgot it.
Gordon married the love of his life, Donna Arline Boyce June 10, 1939 in Topaz, ID. They were sealed in the Logan Temple November 23, 1942. They were blessed to adopt three children: Janet Arline, George Ellis and Marsha Jean. His family was the joy of his life and he dearly loved his children and grandchildren. At the age of 81, he began raising his granddaughter, KaKoli, when her mother passed away. Grandpa and Koli had a special bond and took good care of each other for the past nine years.
Gordon was large in stature with a heart to match. He loved Tremonton and served the community well for many years. "Worley" and his wife, Donna, owned and operated Worley's Sweet Shop The Pie Dump and Worley's Cold Storage. He was a charter member of the Skyway Golf Course and helped raise funds to build the course. He was passionate about golf. He also loved basketball and pheasant hunting. He served two terms on the Tremonton City Council.
Gordon was an active member of the LDS church and served faithfully in such callings as Elder's Quorum President, Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader, Scout Master, Employment Specialist and home teacher. He was a good neighbor and friend to many people in the Bear River Valley. He will be sorely missed by all.
Surviving are his daughter, Marsha Michael Cook, Kaysville; sister, Cyrene Baker, Bountiful; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, daughter Janet, son George, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 6th Ward Chapel, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton. Viewing will be held Friday, May 22, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:40 a.m.
Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery with military honors accorded.
