Gordon Nielsen Kent

Tremonton, Gordon N. Kent, 64, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2003 from heart and lung failure. Gordon was born in Malad, Idaho on September 8, 1939 to Wesley and Mabel Kent. He was raised in Arimo, Idaho. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School, attended Snow College and Utah State University. He married Florence Davis on June 18, 1960 in Downey, Idaho. Gordon was a test engineer at Thiokol for over 40 years where he received many recognitions for his service including the Silver Snoopy Award. Gordon was actively involved in the Box Elder County Sheriff's Posse for many years where he served as the Chief in 1976. He also was an advisor for the Bear River High School Rodeo Club for ten years. Many came to know and love him through his kind, quiet service. Gordon was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and loved spending time with his family and close friends fishing, camping, and horsing around. Gordon is survived by his wife Florence D. Kent, Tremonton; four children, JaLynne Craig Archibald, Taylor, Jean Nathan Corey, Plain City, Karen Brad Hodson, Hooper and Brett Tamara Kent, Sidney, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, three brothers, Sidney Gloria Kent, Arimo, Idaho, Grant Arveda Kent, Island Park, Idaho, Marlin Anita Kent, Inkom, Idaho; one sister, Alice Hanson, Carman, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Third Ward Chapel located at 9590 North 6800 West, Tremonton. Friends and family may call at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home Friday, October 3, 2003 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 4, 2003 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Downey Cemetery in Idaho.
