Golden Rufus Andreasen

April 4, 1902 — November 7, 2003

Golden R. Andreasen, 101, well-known Box Elder County resident,peacefully passed away Nov. 7, 2003 at his home in Elwood surrounded bymembers of his family. He was born April 4, 1902 in Elwood, the 6thchild of Casper and Caroline Andersson Andreasen. His mother came acrossthe plains as a tiny girl making him a true son of a pioneer. Golden received his education at Elwood and Cleveland, Idaho, and alsoattended the Agriculture College at Logan, now Utah State University. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter-day Saints. He married Fern Petersen of Bear River City on Mar. 19, 1924 in BrighamCity. They were blessed with 11 children. After 73 years of marriage,Fern passed away on June 2, 1997. Golden was a hard worker. As a boy he drove cattle to and from hisfathers farm and the summer range in Cleveland, Idaho. During hisearly-married years he raised and sold horses to the army at Ft. Carson,Colo. He enjoyed playing the harmonica. A farmer and rancher all hislife, he was well known for his outstanding crops and horses. He served his community as a member and president of the Elwood TownBoard for many years, and was instrumental in bringing culinary water toElwood. He is survived by the following children: Rayola Raymond Phelps,Milwaukie, Oreg., Clair Valene, Tremonton, Curtis Rita, Tremonton,Reid Donna, Millville, Roger Karin, Elwood, Alan Carol, Bear RiverCity, Linda Leon Rasmussen, Millville, Ronald Jodi, Brigham City, anda sister, Anna Dorthea Lee of Mapleton, Utah. Golden and Fern alsoraised two granddaughters, Jody Brent Karren of Smithfield, and CindyScott Nielsen of Hyrum. His parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, a son,Gordon, and two daughters, Carolyn and Janice preceeded him in death. He leaves a posterity of 43 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and26 plus great-great grandchildren. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Granny's Live-inNanny's for taking care of dad at his home for the past few months. Services are scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Rogers &Taylor Mortuary at 111 N 100 E in Tremonton. The family will meet withfriends begining at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the BearRiver City cemetery.
