Golda Reeder McCombs passed away on November 20, at the Sunshine Terrace after a brief illness. She is reunited after seventy-seven days with her husband of sixty-six years, Keith. Golda was born in Smithfield to Golden F. and Fontella Reeder on March 10, 1921. She grew up in a large happy family. The family lived on a small farm and lived a self sufficient life. There wasn't a lot of money but the children never felt like they were poor. Her mother always prepared wonderful meals from their garden and farm. Golda remembered the lessons of hard work and wise management throughout her life.
She attended school in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School. She was an excellent student. After graduation she worked as a bank teller. She married Keith McCombs on March 16, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. During their marriage they lived in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, and California as they moved for Keith's employment. Golda worked as a store clerk and bookkeeper but most enjoyed her role as a wife and homemaker. Her hobbies were bowling and crossword puzzles. She did beautiful knitting and crocheting. She was a good cook and made delicious fudge. She and Keith traveled throughout the western United States. They retired and returned to Smithfield in 1972.
A dedicated genealogist she carefully researched and documented information for her records. The list of sources for each sheet was long and detailed. The source documents were carefully filed and easily retrieved. She served in the Relief Society and Primary. She and Keith served as ward librarians for over 20 years. She enjoyed attending the temple frequently.
Although she and Keith were never blessed with children of their own, they shared their love with many friends and neighbors. She had a great love for and supported her nieces and nephews. Golda was preceded in death by her husband Keith and her sister Lois Reese and brothers, Paul and Jack. She is survived by a sister, Donna Lou Pitcher and brothers: Billy Reeder, Martin Corky Reeder, and LeGrand E. Reeder.
