Gloria J. Johnson Surrounded by family, Gloria Jorgensen Johnson passed away at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah, on Sunday, January 16, 2011 from causes incident to age. Gloria was born February 11, 1931 seven minutes before her twin sister, Gladys, in Hyrum, Utah, to John W. and Nanna Jorgensen. She was the ninth of twelve children. Gloria?s childhood was spent in Hyrum, attending South Cache schools where she was a cheerleader and later a majorette at U.S.U. She married Jay Reed Johnson on June 28, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. While Reed served one year in the Korean War, Gloria sewed at Mode O Day and Superior Cleaners. She was a wife and mother of eight, two sons and six daughters, and a ?homemaker? in the true sense of the word. She was known for her gourmet cooking and sewing abilities. Six daughters were dressed in matching dresses every Easter and Christmas. She even took a correspondence course to receive a Gourmet Chef cooking certificate. She always loved music and surrounded herself with it on the radio or participating herself. She was a member of the Town Singers for years and also sang with her daughters for many church and family programs. She instilled in her family a love for music. Gloria was an active member of the LDS church and served in many capacities through the years at both the ward and stake levels. She had valiantly visit taught in her ward even over the last few months. She crocheted adorable booties for all the new babies in the ward. Her life was a life spent in unselfish service and commitment to others. Though she had many challenges she compassionately served others unselfishly. Gloria is survived by eight children: Dennis Debbie Ann Johnson- Logan, Paulette Paul D. Campbell ? Logan, Mark Shannon Johnson ? Petersboro, Carolyn Jens Trauntvein ? Logan, Becky Keven Kendall ? Logan, Beverly Hal Cornia ? Cokeville, WY, Debbie Terry Wright - Logan, Peggy Leon Bodily ? Corinne, 33 Grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren with three on the way, twin sister, Gladys Parker and brother, Reed Jorgensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Reed Johnson, her parents, and nine siblings, Mildred, Arthur, Leonard, Jack, Max, Colleen, Howard, Virginia, and Joan. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the 15th/16th ward building located at 125 West 600 North, Logan, Utah at noon. Viewings will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home at 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah and Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the 15th/16th ward building.
