May 23, 1931 — July 1, 2023

Gloria “Jean” Sheen Neilson passed away in Smithfield on July 1, 2023. She was 92 years of age and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and sister.

She married Edward Allen Neilson from Millville on September 28, 1951 in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They made their home in Smithfield where they lived in the same home for over 69 years. Allen and Jean were the parents of three sons, Michael Allen, Craig Jay and Dennis Kay.

Outside of the home she was employed at several businesses as a telephone operator, baker at Jack and Leigh's Market and as an office worker at Moore Business Forms. (R.R. Donnelley.) She made many life-long friends as she was employed at these businesses.

Allen and Jean were members of the Cache Geological and Archaeological Society and enjoyed associating with the club members on many rock- hounding trips.

She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in the auxiliaries of the church such as Sunday School, Primary, Young Women's Organization and Relief Society. She was a Relief Society Visiting Teacher for over 65 years. One of her greatest attributes was serving others. She served others in the capacity of compassionate service leader for many years and was always willing to serve others whether it be through a church assignment, her family or neighborhood.

She was proud of her Smithfield heritage which extended back to some of the first settlers of the community in 1860.

Family was at the center of Jean's life. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a visit from them was a highlight of her day.
