Glen Willard Hancey

October 19, 1917 — August 6, 2003

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Glen Willard Hancey, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 06, 2003. He was born on October 19, 1917 in Hyde Park to John Willard and Elvira Christenca Hansen Hancey. He was the 4th child of nine children born to this union. Glen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and at the time of his death was a High Priest. He loved the gospel and gave service lovingly and willingly. Glen served in the army for 5 years during WWII in the Pacific Islands. He married Betty Loosle on October 9, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on February 14, 1956. Together they raised a family of four children: Gary RaeLynn Hancey, Janet Gregory Forbush, Bruce Jolene Hancey, and Diane Tim Poulson. He successfully ran his own plumbing and heating business for many years and continued to enjoy working with his son Gary, who later ran the business. Glen took great pride in his bountiful garden and orchard that he cultivated every year, up until his passing. He loved to share the fruits of his labor with everyone. He enjoyed figure skating for many years with his brothers and loved to strap on the old ice skates. He also had a special love for writing poetry. One of his most important and special qualities was his loving, kind and giving nature. He was known to say ?It?s nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.?
He was honest and trusting and never said a bad or harsh word about anyone. Glen is survived by his wife, Betty; his four children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He delighted in his family and loved his grandchildren very much. He is also survived by a brother, Lynn Delbert Hancey and a sister, Julene Gustaveson. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. The family wishes to express a special ?thank you? to Rocky Mountain Hospice for all their tender and loving care and the help they provided to Glen and his family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the North Logan Green Canyon Stake Center, 1850 North 400 East. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Stake Center and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
